Popular events include Lou Bunch Days, Central City Opera, and the Jazz Festival. Activities include Golden Gate Canyon State Park, vistas and scenery, fishing at Golden Gate and Netherlands. Firewood is for sale at the campground. Some first come, first serve sites may be available. Sites are available on a first come first served basis outsde the Memorial to Labor Day reservation season.

Located in a generally flat area, at an elevation of 8,600 feet. Campground is situated in a ponderosa pine forest, providing mixed sun and shade. Equestrian stables are available 3 miles north. Restroom facilities are provided. Nearest showers are in Nederland. Excellent hiking trails are nearby. Not all sites have developed tent pads.
